'Losing Face' Now Playing at Melbourne Theatre Company

'Losing Face' Now Playing at Melbourne Theatre Company

Directed by Leticia Cáceres and featuring set and costume design by Jo Briscoe, Losing Face officially opened at Melbourne Theatre Company on Friday night.

Written by Marieke Hardy, Losing Face is an outrageously funny new Australian comedy that follows three lifelong friends whose luxury wellness retreat spirals into complete chaos. Described as a "perimenopausal Weekend at Bernie's," it's a sharp, unhinged exploration of friendship, beauty standards and the pursuit of eternal youth.

"This is theatre worth your time... a show that pays you back in laughter you don't see coming." ★★★★★ – The Scoop

Sharp, savage and absolutely unmissable.” – Onya Magazine

A laugh-out-loud, must see show” – Scenestr

An absolutely smashing black comedy.” – Stage Whispers

It may be a hoot, but it also sends a powerful message.” – The Blurb

"As the curtain rises, Jo Briscoe's striking set is revealed: The Royal You wellness resort rendered as aesthetic perfection; slick, serene, and slightly too immaculate to be entirely trustworthy." ★★★★★ – The Scoop

“Jo Briscoe’s sleek wellness retreat is beautifully realised, instantly transporting audiences into a world of polished luxury where appearances are everything.” - Australian Arts Review

Starring Michala Banas, Madeleine Sami, Christie Whelan Browne, Genevieve Morris and Wil King, Losing Face is now playing at Southbank Theatre, The Sumner until 25 July 2026.
