Praise for Alex Holmes’ Design of ‘The Invisible Man’

Cameron’s client, Production Designer Alex Holmes, is receiving unanimous praise for his design work in Universal Pictures and Blumhouse’s psychological horror The Invisible Man.

Peter Travers writes in Rolling StoneFor a movie to send out a blast of bone-chilling, pulse-pounding terror peppered with psychological insights, it needs virtuosity in every department. And that’s what Whannell gets from cinematographer Stefan Duscio, production designer Alex Holmes, and composer Benjamin Wallfisch.”

Rose Knight states in IGN’s review “Another highlight that needs recognition is the production design by Alex Holmes, which plays into the inescapable nature of Adrian. This is especially noticeable in his open-plan home, with its glass-walled structure that makes you feel like you can do nothing without being watched.

Rob Hunter wrote for Film School Rejects, “Budget talk rarely belongs in reviews, but it must be pointed out how ridiculously good this movie looks and sounds. Whannell and his team — production designer Alex Holmes, cinematographer Stefan Duscio, and sound designers Chris Terhune & P.K. Hooker, to name a few — squeeze magic out of a Blumhouse budget delivering sharp visuals and exquisite sound design. From the modern look of Adrian’s coastal mansion to the more rundown and homey feel of James’ house to the other environments that Cecilia finds herself in, these locales feel alive and wholly separate from the next.”

The Playlist's Griffin Schiller called the film "a modern horror classic... Poignant & timely, packed full of edge of your seat anxiety-inducing suspense! Sound & production design are MASSIVE standouts, but Elizabeth Moss OWNS this film."

The Hollywood Reporter wrote that “Production designer Alex Holmes and costume designer Emily Seresin are expressively attentive to the socio-economic status of their assorted characters.

The film is in Australian cinemas today.
