Alex has built an extensive list of credits as a production designer on feature films, including the critically acclaimed psychological thriller The Babadook (dir. Jennifer Kent, 2012), Being Venice (dir. Milo Bilborough, 2011) Wish You Were Here (dir. Kieran Darcy-Smith 2011) and most recently The Nightingale (2018), Jennifer Kent’s latest feature film, an epic period piece set in 1820’s Tasmania. The Nightingale was part of the official selection for the 75th Venice Film Festival and went onto win the Special Jury Prize.
The Babadook was nominated for an AACTA award for Best Production Design in 2015 and received a Critics Circle Award nomination for Best Production Design in the same year. Alex studied Fine Art at the UNSW College of Fine Arts, before being accepted into an exchange program at the world-renowned Glasgow School of Art in the UK. He is a master’s Graduate from AFTRS where he was the recipient of the Fox Award for best production design in his graduating year.
Alex recently worked on the television series The Unlisted (2019) for Aquarius Films and Netflix. His design work will next be on display in the upcoming remake of the classic horror film, The Invisible Man, for Universal Pictures, Blumhouse Productions and Goalpost Pictures.
