Ben Lawrence's 'Ghosthunter' Hits Select Cinemas Today

The accolades continue to pour in for Ghosthunter; the documentary-feature debut of Cameron’s client writer-director Ben Lawrence which hits select cinemas today.

The film has already screened at numerous international and domestic film festivals, won the Documentary Australia Foundation Award for Australian Documentary at this years Sydney Film Festival and is now shortlisted by the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Award for Best Feature Length Documentary.

Paul Byrnes of the Sydney Morning Herald said, “Ben Lawrence's debut documentary is simply remarkable – not just for the story, which tells of a man in western Sydney who hunts ghosts, most of them in his own past – but for the sensitivity with which Lawrence tells it.”

Byrnes continues “Lawrence spent seven years on this project. It's a breathtaking achievement, but the credit goes to those in front of the lens, as much as those behind it. They all display such courage, such resilience.”

Krystle Richardson from Scenestr similarly praised Ben’s ability at handling the difficult subject matter with such care, while also applauding the films more thrilling elements, “filmmaker, Ben Lawrence, does a brilliant job of building suspense as the story unfolds. If you love a good old-fashioned mystery, you will be in puzzle-solving heaven. There are so many behavioural patterns to watch, clues to piece together and twists to try to figure out before they’re revealed.”

The story follows Western Sydney security guard and part-time ghosthunter, Jason, who has spent two decades searching for his missing Father. As Jason’s search to reconcile his fractured memories progresses he becomes embroiled in a police investigation, forcing him to confront his past in order to reclaim his future.
