Wayne Hope

Wayne Hope is an actor, writer, director and producer who runs the highly successful Australian production company, Gristmill, with his wife, Robyn Butler.

An award-winning actor, Wayne has appeared in the iconic comedies The CastleThe Micallef Program, and Very Small Business, the critically acclaimed series which Wayne also co-created and produced. Wayne also co-created, wrote, produced, and directed the award-winning hit comedies The Librarians, and three seasons of Upper Middle Bogan (which won a 2016 AACTA award for Most Outstanding Comedy). He also directed and produced Gristmill's first feature film, Now Add Honey, and then co-created, directed, and produced Little Lunch, the series, for ABC3, which has gone on to enjoy extraordinary success, including winning the 2016 Prix Jeunesse award in Germany. Additionally to the series of Little Lunch, Wayne has also co-created, directed, and produced two Little Lunch specials, which have been nominated for the 2017 AACTA award for Best Children's Television Series.

Wayne directed True Story for Hamish and Andy, and has been a guest panelist on Talkin' 'Bout Your Generation. Wayne performed in, co-wrote and produced his and Robyn’s follow up to Very Small Business, Back In Very Small Business which premiered in 2018. His performance as Don Angel was nominated for Nominated for the 2018 AACTA Award for Best Performance in a Television Comedy.

Most recently, Wayne co-created and produced the upcoming Stan Original series Dear Life for Gristmill. Prior to that he co-created and produced the anthology series Summer Love for ABC TV. The series was nominated for the 2022 AACTA Award for Best Comedy Program.
