Steve won the Shane & Cathryn Brennan Prize for Playwriting for his most recent play The Future is History which has been retitled Break of Day and is included in Malthouse Theatre’s 2026 mainstage season.

His other recent play The Pool premiered at Black Swan Theatre Company in 2024 and will tour regionally in Western Australia in 2026.

Steve’s other plays include Ray's Tempest (Belvoir St Theatre, MTC), Savage River (Griffin, MTC) and Food (Belvoir St/ Force Majeure) which Steve co-directed with Kate Champion and toured Australia. Steve adapted Peter Goldsworthy’s novel Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam (NTOP/Belvoir St) and his play King of Pigs (Old Fitz) toured Australia (Critical Stages) in 2022.

Steve co-wrote the feature film Sweet As with Jub Clerc and he wrote serial television for Rush, produced by John Edwards for Network Ten.

Steve has worked as an actor in theatre, film, and television for over thirty years and is represented as an actor by Shanahan Management. He is Sydney based.
