Penelope Southgate
Production Designer
Penelope Southgate is a highly sought-after designer, working across feature film and television. In 2023, Penelope worked as production designer on the feature Ice Road: Vengence (Code Entertainment/ Servo Production Services), starring Liam Neeson. The following year she reunited with the same team to work on the upcoming Amazon Prime film The Mongoose.
Penny’s career began when she joined the ABC design department in Melbourne after receiving a degree in Interior Design at RMIT. Whilst there she cut her teeth on a wide variety of programs, gaining knowledge and experience working on period miniseries, contemporary dramas, and variety and award shows as a production designer, art director, and set designer. She frequently returns to the ABC to design sets for their factual or talkshow programs such as, Shaun Micallef’s Eve of Destruction, A Bite to Eat With Alice and the Crime Night! which will air later this year.
