Max Mannix

Max Mannix is a highly experienced screenwriter and director who resides on the Gold Coast hinterland in Queensland, Australia, after living in Japan for 14 years.

Highly acclaimed, his work has won many awards including the Un Certain Regard Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival for Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s Tokyo Sonata, as well as being nominated for an Emmy in 2017 for Best Mini-Series, NHK’s Tokyo Trial. Max is a regular guest on Japan NHK’s film review program, J-Flicks , he also won Best Screenplay at the prestigious Asian Film Awards for his original screenplay Tokyo Sonata, and is an inducted member of the Asia Pacific Screen Academy.

Max recently wrote, produced and directed The Brighton Miracle, which was released via Hoyts in Australia and New Zealand in 2019, and will be released worldwide in 2020.
