Luke Rynderman is an exciting, new screenwriter and director with a passion for storytelling based in true events.

In 2024 Luke released his debut feature film The Speedway Murders, a hybrid feature documentary highlighting the still infamous and unsolved case of the ‘Burger Chef Murders’, where four young employees were kidnapped and violently killed after a closing shift at a burger restaurant in Speedway, Indiana 1978.

The film was nominated for four AACTA awards and received production investment from Screen Australia, the South Australian Film Corporation and the Adelaide Film Festival, where it premiered as the opening gala film. It was released in North America by Vertical Entertainment before being acquired by Hulu, where it quickly became one of the platform’s top ten most-watched films. It later premiered on Netflix in Australia, also charting in the national top ten. The film stars Joseph Zada (The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping), Essie Randles (Apples Never Fall) and Davida McKenzie (Leviticus).

Prior to focusing on writing and directing, Luke had an extensive career within Art Department across film and television, notably as a production designer. He has worked previously as an art director for several of Australia’s leading graphic design firms on major advertising campaigns for fashion and arts clients such as Vogue Magazine, The Australian Ballet and the Melbourne International Fashion Festival.

He’s currently currently working on a slate of projects including with Princess Pictures on feature-documentary The Disappearance of Dennis Martin, about a 6-year-old child who mysteriously vanished in the Great Smoky Mountains in 1969 leaving behind one of the most haunting mysteries in American history, as well as feature film Dearly Departed, about an Australian vlogger documenting celebrity death sites across America.
