Lucy Gaffy is an award-winning filmmaker and Masters graduate of the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS). She has been working in the industry for over seven years across a broad range of productions including short films, documentaries, long-form projects and television commercials.
Lucy was the 2009 recipient of the European Union Travel Scholarship to travel to the DocPoint Festival in Helsinki to show her Documentary Century Witness and in 2010 was nominated for an Australian Directors Guild award and received an AFI nomination for her film The Love Song of Iskra Prufrock (pr. Lyn Norfor, 2010), which subsequently screened at over 60 International Festivals. She was a recipient of the 2012 Screen NSW Emerging Filmmakers Fund with which she made her award-winning short The Gift. She received her second Directors Guild nomination for her short film The Fence (pr. Kiki Dillon, 2013), which subsequently premiered at the prestigious Busan International Film Festival in South Korea.
Lucy was awarded Hot Shots funding through Screen Australia for her proof of concept short Dream Baby (pr. Kiki Dillon), which she completed in 2015. Dream Baby had its World Premiere at the Melbourne International Film Festival in August 2016 and won the 2016 AACTA Award for Best Short Film. It was also nominated in 2017 for the ADG Award for Best Direction in a Short Film. In 2016 was awarded the ADG Attachment on the CJZ Production of the Channel Nine miniseries Bond.
In 2017 Lucy was invited to The Julliard School, New York, to be an observer. Lucy Gaffy has recently finished directing Episode 7 for Doctor Doctor Series 2.
