Josh Mapleston is an award-winning screenwriter and producer with a focus on audience-friendly stories told with wit and originality.
He is the head writer and Executive Producer of the upcoming comedy series Ghosts, an Australian version of the internationally successful format, due for release on Paramount Plus in 2025.
He is the co-creator and co-executive producer of the hit Netflix series Surviving Summer. Season Two reached the Top 10 in over fifty countries, achieving a coveted ‘Global Top Ten’ ranking. The show remains one of the most viewed Australian titles on the platform.
In the comedy sphere he created, wrote and starred in the ABC music comedy I Rock and was a writer and script editor on the kung-fu comedy series Maximum Choppage.
He has also written for many popular Aussie dramas, including Doctor Doctor, House Husbands, The Wrong Girl, and Tomorrow, When the War Began.
He also has extensive writing credits across children’s television, winning an Emmy for his work on the Netflix series Motown Magic, writing and script-editing for Series 2 & 3 of the internationally successful Dance Academy, and writing for ABC’s Logie and International Emmy nominated series Ready for This, and the Netflix animated series Beat Bugs.
