Cameron's Welcomes Director Hattie Archibald
Cameron’s is delighted to welcome Director Hattie Archibald to the agency.
Originally from rural NSW, Hattie Archibald is an award-winning emerging director, writer and producer.
In 2019, Hattie graduated from the Australian Film Television & Radio School (AFTRS) with a Master of Arts: Screen in Directing. Her comedy web series Gut Feeling, received a number of awards internationally, including the Audience Choice Award at Melbourne Webfest and Minnesota Webfest. The series was presented at MIPCOM (Marché International des Programmes de Communication) as part of the ‘Best of Short Form’ showcase for 2019 at Cannes. Hattie was also awarded the inaugural postgraduate grant from AFTRS and The Studio through the Graduate Incubator Program, allowing the team to develop Gut Feeling for SVOD.
Other awards for the series include: Best Student Series at Melbourne Webfest, Best Series and Best Comedy Screenplay at Sydney Webfest, Best Lead Performance at Toronto Webfest and Best Comedic Performance at Minnesota Webfest for actor Bridie Connell.
Since graduating, Hattie has shadowed director David Gould on Home & Away, and has worked as a 1st Assistant Director, notably on feature film Ellie & Abbie (& Ellie’s Dead Aunt) for Cobbstar Productions, and on CJZ’s pilot Rocky & Me for ABCME, for which she was also an Associate Producer.
In her role as an impact producer, Hattie developed the marketing and release strategies for a dozen independent Australian feature documentaries, including Gayby Baby, Wide Open Sky, Motorkite Dreaming, The Connection and most recently, My Year of Living Mindfully.
Hattie directed her first short film Sac’rebleu while on a university exchange at the Sorbonne in Paris. Hattie’s other short films include: The Brazilian (2013) created at AFTRS as part of a Graduate Certificate in Directing, Asymptotes (2015), and The Rehearsal (2017). She has also directed a variety of comedy sketches and online content.
Hattie is currently in development for a number of projects, including a long form drama series, and a new comedy series.
