Alex has built an extensive list of credits as a production designer on feature films, including; the critically acclaimed psychological thriller THE BABADOOK (2012) directed by Jennifer Kent, BEING VENICE directed by Milo Bilborough, WISH YOU WERE HERE directed by Kieran Darcy-Smith. Alex's most recent film, THE NIGHTINGALE, is Jennifer Kent’s latest feature film; an epic period piece set in 1820’s Tasmania.
THE BABADOOK was nominated for an AACTA award for Best Production Design in 2015 as well as picking up a nomination for a Critics Circle Award for Best Production Design in the same year. Alex originally studied Fine Art at the UNSW College of Fine Arts and the was accepted into an exchange program at the world-renowned Glasgow School of Art in the UK where he completed the 2nd year of his Bachelor of Fine Art. Alex was one of four students accepted into the Production Design Masters course at the internationally acclaimed Australian Film and Television School (AFTRS) in 2003. Alex was the recipient of the Fox Award for best production design in his graduating year.
