Alex has built an extensive list of credits as a production designer on feature films, including the critically acclaimed psychological thriller The Babadook (2012) directed by Jennifer Kent, Being Venice (2011) directed by Milo Bilborough, Wish You Were Here (2011) by Kieran Darcy-Smith and most recently The Nightingale (2018), Jennifer Kent’s latest feature film, an epic period piece set in 1820’s Tasmania.
The Babadook was nominated for an AACTA award for Best Production Design in 2015 as well as picking up a nomination for a Critics Circle Award for Best Production Design in the same year. Alex originally studied Fine Art at the UNSW College of Fine Arts and the was accepted into an exchange program at the world-renowned Glasgow School of Art in the UK. He is a Masters Graduate from AFTRS where he was the recipient of the Fox Award for best production design in his graduating year.
