Abe Forsythe

Abe is currently in post production on his second feature film Little Monsters which he wrote and directed. It is being produced by Bruna Papandrea, Jodi Matterson, and Steve Hutensky. Abe’s first feature film Down Under, which he also wrote and directed, won the 2017 Betty Roland Prize for Scriptwriting at the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards and was nominated for Best Original Screenplay in the 2016 AACTAs after its theatrical release in August 2016.

Abe was Executive Producer on the ABC series Soul Mates by The Bondi Hipsters. In 2011 he was the Series Director for the ABC comedy Laid (II), having acted in the first series. Abe has written and directed a number of award winning short films some of which he also edited and produced. They include Shock (Tropfest and Best Comedy St Kilda Film Festival winners), Tomorrow (GPS) (Mofilm Barcelona Festival winner), Being Carl Williams (Tropfest 2nd place and Best Comedy), and The Hostage.  In 2012 he directed episodes of Fremantle’s Mr & Mrs Murder and Jungle’s The Elegant Gentleman’s Guide to Knife Fighting.

In 2003 Abe wrote, directed and starred in the comedy feature film Ned, produced by Ocean Pictures and Showtime.

Abe’s TV writing credits include Double Take and two episodes of Comedy Inc – The Late Shift. He is a busy TVC director and is developing a number of tv and film projects.

He is best known as an actor for his performances in Laid, 30 Seconds, Tripping Over, Marking Time, Fireflies and Always Greener. Abe continues to be represented by United Management as an actor.
